  • What is Energy Savings Assistance Program or ESA program?
    The Energy Savings Assistance Program also know as ESA program or ESAP, is a free weatherization program where the PG&E customer recieves free energy efficient upgrades to their home. The ESA Program is sponsered through Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) and serviced and provided through a PG&E authorized contractor.
  • What do I get out of the ESA Program?
    You may qualify for energy efficient measures and upgrades for your home. Below is a list of just a few measures the ESA Program has to offer you: Refrigerator Replacement Attic Insulation Light fixtures Door weatherstrip Shower heads and Faucet aerator And much more!
  • Does the PG&E bill have to be in my name?
    Yes. At the time of sign up, you must be present and the PG&E holder, secondary holder or an authorized person who has the legal consent to sign in your behalf.
  • Do I have to pay for any of the measures and upgrades to my home through the ESA Program?
    No. The Energy Savings Assistance program (ESA Program) is free at NO COST to you.
  • Why is the ESA Program free? Sounds too good to be true!
    Every PG&E customer pays a tax called the Energy Commission Tax on their bill as well as the PPP Gas Surcharge. The ESA Program and CARE program, among other programs, are funded by the money collected from the Energy Commission tax and the PPP Gas Surcharge. For more detailed information click here.
  • When will the messures and upgrades be installed in my home?
    After the Energy Specialst has obtained all income verifications along with the signed and completed application forms. Once the ES creates a Project Number for your enrollment application, a QCS scheduler will contact you by phone in approximately a week to set up an appointment for the Weatherization Technician to install the measures in your home. Appointments are scheduled upon your availability.
  • How long will the installation take?
    Approximately between 1-2 hours depending on the size of your home, types of measures, and how many measures are feasible to install.
  • Do I have to accept and take all measures and upgrades in my home? What if I don't like the look or design?
    No. You as the customer, can refuse and choose not to accept any measures and upgrades we have to offer. However, in order for you to participate in and benifit from the ESA Program, we the contractor, would have to install at least 3 measures/upgrades into your home.
  • What color will my refrigerator be?
    All refrigerator replacements will be white.
  • Can I ask for a side by side refrigerator?
    All refrigerator replacements will be standard basic with freezer on top and frige on bottom. *The exception is in the event that you, the customer, are disabled and able to obtain a form signed by your doctor verifying your disability and require a side by side or freezer on the bottom and frige on top. For further information speak with refrigerator contractor when they call you to schedule your appointment.
  • Who will be doing the work in my home?
    The authorized PG&E contractor in your area will schedual a certified and trained Weatherization Specialist to install the measures into your home. All WS's went through a background check and will have proper uniform including a picture ID badge for verification.
  • Who do I contact for questions and concerns?
    For questions regarding the ESA program and your enrollment application contact your Energy Specialist. For questions regarding measure and upgrade installations contact your local contractor who your Energy Specialist represents.
